The past few months I'd been avoiding spoilers on TTT2 in the form of video footage.. Decided I wanted to sit there, and get the true impact of an Arcade in 2011.. And boy was I happy..
Graphically amazing. From title screen to fight scene this game is in a new league.. New animations for characters, excellently executed tag cut scenes.. Intros.. Something that stood out was a kind of focus attack, a moment when a circle would lock on the attacker.. It may have been a homing move.. But I don't know shit about that yet!
The cabinets themselves are dope as hell. Brand new speakers really do the job of commanding presence in the arcade.. The bass been so deep you couldn't help gettin pumped up. Every impact kinda reverberated and shook the machine, leaving the player pretty dam happy. One point to note is presently, non of the major arcades have more that 4 cabinets.. This may be the sample period, but in really hoping we can get some good setups.. 8 machines at least is necessity..
The tag system is what everyone was talking about.. Dry tagging is going to get your ass slammed hard.. 2 hours later a few players were beginning to dominate the scene by landing the big combo.. The scrub would then panic, try using a dry tag, then get caught on the way in.. It's definitely a key element here, not just the tagging, but using it as a defensive attack to punish wiffed combos..
I wasn't out to gain battle points or anything (although that will be step two), but more to test Ogre, and Jaycee and how they handled.. Og's a beast (literally) and wiped the floor with opponents using his unpredictable hit strings and unique hitboxes. Jaycee also had a lot to give (no doubt at this time it was Julia Chang).. Her movements deceptive, swift..
Shit lots to learn..
